Samarth Portal Assam 2026: Login, Registration, Nijut Moina

Assam runs two Samarth portals for state higher education, and most students use both in the same year. The first is the Assam State Higher Education Admission Portal at assamadmission.samarth.ac.in, where you apply for an undergraduate seat. The second is the Assam State Higher Education Student Portal at assamshesp.samarth.edu.in, which you use after admission for your digital ID card, programme details and, for many students, the Nijut Moina or Nijut Babu scholarship form.

The admission portal runs under the Department of Higher Education, Assam, on the Ministry of Education’s Samarth platform. If you came here for another state or a single university, start from our list of every Samarth admission portal. This page covers Assam only, and each date below is taken from a notice on the portal itself, from the Directorate of Higher Education, or from Gauhati University.

The 2026-27 cycle, date by date

The 2026-27 admission cycle on Assam’s Samarth portal ran from 11 April to 14 September 2026, with a separate CUET round in July. Nijut Moina and Nijut Babu applications at Gauhati University went on after that, until the extended date of 25 October 2026. Here is every dated notice in order:

  • 11 April 2026, 4:00 PM: registration for four-year undergraduate and five-year integrated programmes opened on the admission portal under the Non-CUET process.
  • 9 June: the second merit list was posted on the portal.
  • 13 June: the Directorate issued its notification for UG spot admission.
  • 15 June: a vacancy list followed.
  • 5 to 13 July: the CUET score-based cycle. Applicants registered and chose programmes while institutions scrutinised applications.
  • 14 to 15 July: correction window for the CUET cycle.
  • 25 July: revised timelines for CUET admissions and the final Non-CUET spot (mop-up) round.
  • 21 August: Gauhati University started accepting hard copies of Nijut Moina and Nijut Babu forms.
  • 5 September: Gauhati University’s first deadline for online scholarship submission.
  • 10 September: the Directorate notified an extension of the UG admission timeline.
  • 14 September: registration deadline on the admission portal. The portal now shows the cycle as closed.
  • 15 October: Gauhati University extended the online scholarship deadline to 25 October 2026.

As of 29 October 2026, both windows have passed. The admission portal asks applicants to check it regularly for the next cycle, and the student portal stays open for enrolled students.

For 2026-27 the portal listed 664 participating institutions and 320 programmes. Affiliated colleges sit under their affiliating university, so if your college does not show up in a search, look under the university first.

Why your April login stopped working in July

Your April login stopped working because the portal treated the CUET round as a separate cycle. It states that registrations created under the Non-CUET process are not valid for logging in or applying in the CUET score-based cycle. Every CUET candidate had to register afresh with their CUET Application Number and Roll Number.

Can you reuse the other track’s login?NoNo. Fresh registration is required

If you applied in both tracks, you hold two registration numbers and two passwords. Keep both until your admission is confirmed, because each track’s applications sit under its own account.

A different portal for polytechnic diplomas

Not every Assam Samarth address is the higher education portal. Diploma admissions to Government Polytechnics run on a separate DTE Assam counselling portal at dte-assamadm.samarth.ac.in. Its 2026-27 registration closed on 10 May 2026. An account made there does not work on the higher education admission portal, and the reverse is also true.

Logging in to the admission portal

You log in to the admission portal with your registration number or your registered email address, then your password and a captcha. If you have lost your registration number, type your registered email instead, because the login box accepts either one. The portal’s own instructions are short and worth following to the letter.

Your name and other details must match your Class X board marksheet. The email address must be yours and must stay working throughout the admission process. The portal recommends the latest version of Google Chrome, and it warns you to check every detail before you click the final submit button.

The only recovery option on the login page is Forgot Password. If the reset mail does not reach you, there is no second route on the page itself, so go straight to the help steps further down.

After admission: the student portal

After admission you need a second account, on the Assam State Higher Education Student Portal. Your admission login does not work there. You register with your enrolment or roll number, confirm an OTP sent to the email and mobile number on record, and set your own password. The steps on the portal:

  1. Open the student portal and click Register under New User Registration.
  2. Type your enrolment or roll number and the captcha, then click Register.
  3. An OTP is sent to the email address and mobile number registered for you. Enter it on the next screen.
  4. Set a password and type it again to confirm.
  5. Log in with your roll number and the new password.

Inside, you get your digital ID card, programme details and other resources. A forgotten password is reset through the Reset Password link on the login page.

Two problems come up often: the portal does not accept your roll number, or the OTP goes to an old mobile number or email. For both, the portal tells students to contact their college administrator and confirm that the details entered are correct.

Students of colleges affiliated to Gauhati University also deal with a separate university system for course selection and examination forms. That is covered on our page about the GU student portal and exam form.

Nijut Moina and Nijut Babu on the Samarth portal

For 2026-27, Nijut Moina and Nijut Babu needed two submissions: a signed paper form first, then an online application on the Samarth student portal once your enrolment number was added to the scholarship section. At Gauhati University the online deadline was extended to 25 October 2026, which has now passed.

The steps below are from the process Gauhati University published for students in its own departments (Ref. No. SECY/UC/2026/3133, dated 21 August 2026). If you study at a college, your college issues its own notice on where to hand in the paper form.

The order matters, because the online form will not appear until the university adds you:

  1. Fill in the paper form, have your Head of Department sign it, attach the documents and submit it at Room No. 14, Office of the Secretary, University Classes. Forms were accepted daily from 21 August 2026.
  2. Wait for that office to add your enrolment number to the scholarship section on the Samarth portal.
  3. Log in to the student portal and complete the online application yourself. The notice says the student must personally complete and submit it.

The notice first set 5 September 2026 as the last date for online submission and warned that late applicants would miss the immediate disbursement slot. Gauhati University later extended the deadline to 25 October 2026 (Ref. No. SECY/UC/2026/3994, dated 15 October 2026), citing a letter from the Director of Higher Education, Assam. Any further change will come by a new notice, so check your department or college before assuming a window is open or closed.

Getting help, in the order the portal asks

Start with your own institution, then the central helpline. The admission portal asks students to raise problems in the order below, and its helpline covers admission portal issues only. For student portal registration, your college administrator is the contact. For Nijut Moina and Nijut Babu, go to the office that received your paper form.

  1. Contact the helpdesk of the institution you applied to, using the Contact Us page on the admission portal.
  2. If that does not solve it, write to admission.samarth@gauhati.ac.in or send a WhatsApp message to 9864978356.
  3. Put your registration number, name, and college and programme in the message.
