GU Samarth Portal: Student Login, Result & Exam Form
If you joined a Gauhati University college through FYUGP from the 2023 batch onward, your course selection, exam form and result notices all run through one address: gauhati.samarth.edu.in. Your login ID there is your enrolment number. Older CBCS batches still fill exam forms on GU’s earlier portals, so check your batch before you try to sign in.
GU’s own notices draw that line. Its notice of 28 April 2026 (Ref. GU/UG/Exam form/FYUGP/2026/134) sent the FYUGP 2023 batch to Samarth for the Semester VI exam form. A notice of 23 April 2026 told CBCS arrear students of the 2022 batch to use onlinegu.in, and those of the 2020 and 2021 batches to use guportal.in.
Signing in to gauhati.samarth.edu.in for the first time
You cannot log in until you create your account once. The sign-in page asks for your enrolment number and a password you set yourself, so first-time users start from New Registration. An OTP goes to the email and mobile number your college holds for you.
- Open the student portal and click New Registration.
- Select your programme and type your name as it appears on your ID card.
- Under Mode of Registration, choose Enrolment Number or Registration Number, then type the number.
- Type the captcha and click Submit.
- Enter the OTP sent to your registered email and mobile number.
- Set a password and type it again to confirm it.
- Sign in with your enrolment number and the new password.

Do not know your enrolment number? GU’s student portal manual points to two places: your college, or your login on the Assam student portal, assamshesp.samarth.edu.in. If the OTP goes to an old number or email, ask your college to update it. The portal also asks you to register with your own email and mobile, not a friend’s.
Forgot the password later? Use Reset Password on the sign-in page.
Where GU results are published
GU announces each result as a public notice on the same student portal. Open Public Notices from the top menu of gauhati.samarth.edu.in and look for your programme, semester and exam session, then click View Document. Regular, supplementary and re-evaluation results are posted as separate notices.
The list is long, past 1,400 notices, covering FYUGP as well as campus programmes such as LL.B, B.Tech, M.Ed and M.Sc. Read the full title before you open a file: a “Re-evaluation Result declared” notice is not your regular result.
The university’s website carries the same declarations on its result notifications page, with each result linked as a document.
One search trap: “GU result” also brings up Gurugram University. Check that the page names Gauhati University, Guwahati, before you trust a date or a link.
Course registration comes before the exam form
The exam form only lists courses you have already registered. GU’s exam notice states that courses appear only for students who completed course registration, and that students who skipped it must not pay the exam fee. So course selection is the step to finish first.
From the GU student portal manual, course selection works like this. After you log in, open your courses from the dashboard and pick each one from the dropdown lists. Click Submit to see a preview, change anything that is wrong, then submit again. Confirm with OK in the pop-up. The screen should then read “Courses submitted successfully”.
For the April 2026 window, GU kept course registration open alongside the exam form, and allowed corrections to forms already submitted.
Filling the GU exam form on Samarth
GU’s exam form runs entirely inside the student portal, with the fee paid online. The Controller of Examinations does not accept paper forms or fees from students. Your college then verifies the form, and admit cards are issued only for verified forms. The steps below come from the annexure to GU’s notice of 28 April 2026.
- Log in at gauhati.samarth.edu.in.
- Click Examination Registration in the left-hand panel.
- Click Click here for Examination Form.
- Select your PwD status. If it does not apply, choose Not Applicable.
- Check every course listed.
- Click Submit.
- Click click here for payment via Razorpay and pay the amount shown.
Do not refresh the page while the payment runs. GU’s notice warns that this can make the submission fail.
If you have an arrear paper, read the notice for your batch. For the 2026 Semester VI form, a student with a Semester II arrear could fill either the Semester VI regular form or the Semester II arrear form, not both.
Paid, but your form still says “Draft”
A Draft status after payment does not always mean the money is lost. GU’s notice gives a fixed check inside the portal. Run it before you pay a second time, because a successful payment only needs to be matched to your form.
Go to Dashboard, then Fee in the left-hand panel, then All Transactions, and click Check Payment Status. If the payment went through, the form is submitted and a green confirmation message appears at the top of the page. The same Check Payment Status option also sits on the last page of the form.

If the check shows no successful payment, speak to your college before you pay again. Colleges verify every form before admit cards are issued.
Admission is a different Samarth portal
The student portal is for students who are already enrolled. Admission happens elsewhere, and GU uses two portals for it. Undergraduate FYUGP and FYIMP applicants apply through the Assam State Higher Education Admission Portal, assamadmission.samarth.ac.in. Postgraduate, PhD and integrated programmes run on GU’s own admission portal, gauhatiadmission.samarth.edu.in.
That GU portal listed 66 programmes for 2026-27, including GURET-based PhD admission and B.Tech counselling. Its 2026-27 registration closed on 27 October 2026, so new applicants now wait for the next cycle’s notice.
For admission questions, GU’s admissions website gives admission@gauhati.ac.in. For login, course or exam form problems on the student portal, start with your own college.
