Samarth Portal Uttarakhand: UG/PG Admission & Student Login
Uttarakhand’s Department of Higher Education keeps its own list of every Samarth address in the state, at ukhed.samarth.ac.in. If a link in a forward or a guide is not on that list, do not type your roll number into it. The list sorts each portal by the job it does: admission, entrance, student login, scholarship and research.
Three state universities share Uttarakhand’s common admission portals: Kumaun University (Nainital), Soban Singh Jeena University (Almora) and Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University (Badshahithol, Tehri Garhwal). Doon University and Uttarakhand Open University sit on the same directory with portals of their own. HNB Garhwal University, a central university, does not appear in the state directory.
Applying for UG or PG admission
Undergraduate and postgraduate admission to the three state universities and their affiliated colleges run on two separate state portals. UG applicants use ukadmission.samarth.ac.in; PG applicants, including those searching for Kumaun University PG admission, use ukpgadmission.samarth.ac.in. Both show a registration deadline of 30 October 2026 for the 2026-27 session.
On the UG portal, a notice of 2 September 2026 reopened new registrations for Kumaun University and its affiliated colleges from 2 to 5 September. Watch the Public Notice page of the portal you are using, because windows like this are announced there.
Both portals list the same document checklist, and each scan must be under 1024 KB:
- scanned photograph;
- scanned signature;
- educational documents;
- experience or category certificates.
Doon University does not use these two portals. Its UG and PG admission runs on doonuniversityadm.samarth.edu.in, which the state directory lists separately.
After admission: registering on your university’s student portal
Once you are admitted, your next login is on your own university’s student portal, not on the admission portal. The state directory lists one for each university: kunainital.samarth.edu.in for Kumaun, ssju.samarth.edu.in for Soban Singh Jeena, sdsuv.samarth.edu.in for Sri Dev Suman, doonuniversity.samarth.edu.in for Doon and uou.samarth.edu.in for the Open University.
Registration here is not the programme-and-name form seen on some other universities’ Samarth portals. Uttarakhand’s student portals ask for your number and your date of birth. Kumaun’s portal asks you to type your roll number in the enrolment field and pick the date of birth you gave during admission. Sri Dev Suman’s registration form asks for the enrolment number and date of birth. An OTP then goes to your registered email and mobile, and you set your own password.
The date of birth must match your admission form exactly. If registration fails with the right number, compare the date with your admission printout before anything else. After registering, Kumaun students log in with the roll number and new password; Sri Dev Suman and Soban Singh Jeena show an Enrolment Number field on the sign-in page. A forgotten password is reset through Request Password Reset on the same page.

Inside the portal you get your digital ID card and programme details. Samarth eGov reported that newly admitted students in the state now receive their university enrolment number right after admission, instead of after their first exam form.
One look-alike to avoid: the directory also lists addresses such as kunainital.samarth.ac.in and sdsuv.samarth.ac.in, but under Admin, not Student. For your student login, use the .samarth.edu.in address listed under Student. A demo PG admission site also appears in search results with “demo” in its address; it is a demo, not the live portal.
B.Ed, Law and PhD entrances have their own portals
Entrance tests do not run on the admission portals. Uttarakhand’s combined B.Ed entrance and the LL.B. and LL.M. entrance tests are listed on ukentrance.samarth.edu.in, the Uttarakhand State Higher Education Entrance Portal. The combined PhD entrance has a separate portal, ukentrancephd.samarth.edu.in.
The PhD entrance covers five universities: Kumaun, Soban Singh Jeena, Sri Dev Suman, Doon and Uttarakhand Open University. A PhD applicant to any of them registers for the entrance on that one portal.
Scholarship and research schemes on Samarth
Uttarakhand runs its state scholarship and research schemes for higher education students on separate Samarth portals, listed in the same directory. They are not part of the admission or student portals, so you apply on the scheme’s own address. The directory lists three:
- the CM Scholarship Scheme, at cmheiss.samarth.ac.in;
- the UK HED Scholarship Scheme of the Higher Education Department, at scholarship-uttarakhand.samarth.ac.in;
- the CM Research Encouragement Scheme, at musspyuk.samarth.ac.in.
The UG admission portal also carries scholarship notices from time to time: in August 2026 it posted that Azim Premji Scholarship 2026-27 applications were open from 10 to 31 August.
For problems with any of these Samarth portals, the directory gives one helpdesk email for the Department of Higher Education: samarthfeedbackuk@gmail.com. Write from the email you registered with, and mention the portal address and your roll or enrolment number.
